“Find the right people, match them with the right job, and make sure they can grow to full maturity within the organization”. And that, in a nutshell, is exactly what Hanneke (HRM business partner since January) and Nynke (human resources assistant) are doing, because they believe that building excellent lighting, begins with building an excellent team.
“I only started here this January, but it feels like I’ve been working here much longer.” I think, it has to do with our team. Their enthusiasm makes a good working atmosphere. Straight away, you feel right at home. Probably also our modern workplace has a lot to do with it, which is beautifully designed”, explains Hanneke. As an HRM business partner, she takes care of organizational development, strategic personnel policy and handling labour legal casuistry.
Hanneke believes that this good working atmosphere is crucial: “if you have a look around here as a customer or new colleague, there are certain things you notice. We work hard, but we always make time to have fun. Our goal is to be the most desired and successful light manufacturers in the world. And that is something that all our colleagues believe in. We are each good at doing our own thing, but working together, we are responsible for everything. Put simply, we need and rely on each other.”
Nynke has been working at Light4U for more than five years, but the employment market has never been as difficult as it is now. It really is quite a challenge to find the right people. In Nynke’s opinion, it is now more important than ever that you find your job satisfying, “Especially for younger people. Before, people used to work in the same place for a long time. Now, they switch jobs much more quickly. You have to be able to offer something extra if you want to be able to retain staff. It’s not just about having a nice atmosphere and good working conditions, it’s also about offering a great workplace. That’s why we have a traditional ‘brown’ pub and why our new office looks like a stylish hotel. It’s all really special. Even more so because until two years ago, our workspace was small and old-fashioned. That’s why we appreciate it even more.”
“Light4U offers lots of room for personal growth. It’s not just because our company is still growing and we are still creating roles, but also because we believe in the importance of broadening your development within your role. We always try to be the best version of ourselves”, explains Hanneke. In her opinion, the key to this is taking personal responsibility, working independently and not being scared to learn from any mistakes we make. Nynke adds: “We have an incredibly close team. And that’s how we want things to stay, which is why it’s so very important that any new members of staff fit into the team. What are we looking for? If you’re open to new things and to other people, then you’re already well on the way to becoming a light builder like us”.
Would you like to become a light builder as well? We are regularly looking for new colleagues. Please feel free to get in touch with Hanneke – she will be happy to tell you more.
